Onboarding & Brand Document
Everything starts here. Before GRIDD can generate ideas or write scripts for you, it needs to understand your brand. This guide walks you through setting up your account and completing onboarding from start to finish.
Time estimate: Onboarding typically takes 10–20 minutes the first time. The more detail you give, the better your AI will perform from day one.
Signing Up
Getting into GRIDD takes seconds. There are no complicated setup forms to fill in before you get started.
- Visit the GRIDD app
Go to app.gridd.co in your browser and you will land on the sign-in page.
- Sign in with Google
Click the "Sign in with Google" button. This is the fastest and most secure way to get in — no password required. GRIDD uses your Google account only for authentication; it does not access your Gmail, Drive, or any other Google data.
- You are in
First-time users are automatically sent to the onboarding wizard. Returning users land on their Workspace dashboard.
The Onboarding Wizard
The onboarding wizard is a guided series of questions that builds your Brand Document — the AI's complete reference for everything it generates on your behalf. Think of it as briefing a new creative team member who will be working with you long-term.
You can type answers freely, upload existing brand documents to auto-fill sections, or use the AI to suggest answers based on what you have already shared.
What you will be asked
- Brand Identity — Are you a personal brand or a company? What is your name and role?
- Goals & Direction — What are you trying to achieve with your content? What drives you?
- Your Offer & Niche — What industry are you in? What topics do you cover? What are you selling or promoting?
- Audience Profile — Who watches your content? What are their struggles, fears, and dream outcomes?
- Your Creator Profile — Your values, personality traits, mission statement, and tagline.
- Your Story — Your before/after transformation narrative — the story that makes your content relatable and compelling.
- Your Story Arc — A structured four-beat version of your personal story: Before state, The struggle, Turning point, and After state. This step can be skipped and completed later.
Got existing brand docs? On the first screen of onboarding, you can upload a PDF, Word document, or text file containing your existing brand guidelines, bio, or strategy document. GRIDD will read it and pre-fill as many answers as it can, saving you significant time.
The Avatar Story step
Near the end of onboarding, you will be asked to fill in your Story Arc — a structured four-beat narrative about your own transformation:
- Before state — Where you were before your transformation. Your starting point and early struggles.
- The struggle — The main challenge or obstacle you faced along the way.
- Turning point — The moment or insight that changed everything for you.
- After state — Where you are now. The outcome and new reality.
This story arc is stored in your primary avatar profile on the People page and used by GRIDD to write scripts that feel emotionally authentic and personally grounded. You can skip this step during onboarding and fill it in later from the People page.
The AI Research Sprint
Towards the end of onboarding, GRIDD runs a research sprint. It uses everything you have shared to generate strategic audience insights — real observations about what your audience cares about, the conversations they are having, and the emotional triggers that make them engage with content like yours. This is the foundation for all future idea generation.
Your First Win Pack
Onboarding ends with your First Win Pack — your first batch of AI-generated content ideas, strategic angles, and a ready-to-use folder in your Workspace. This is GRIDD showing you what it can do right away, before you have even explored the rest of the app.
Your Brand Document
The Brand Document is not just a one-time setup. It is a living document you can update and enrich over time as your brand evolves. You can access and edit it any time in Settings → Brand Document.
Enriching your Brand Document
The Enrich feature lets you upload files at any point to add more depth to your Brand Document. Supported file types include:
- PDFs (strategy docs, pitch decks, media kits)
- Word documents (.docx)
- Text files (.txt, .md)
- Images (screenshots of bios, posts, profiles)
- CSV files (audience data, analytics exports)
GRIDD reads the files and merges any relevant information it finds directly into the appropriate section of your Brand Document.
Note: The more complete your Brand Document, the smarter every AI feature becomes. If your ideas feel generic or off-brand, the first thing to check is whether your Brand Document has enough detail — particularly in the Audience Profile and Creator Story sections.
Resetting your Brand Document
If your brand goes through a major repositioning, you can reset individual sections or the entire Brand Document from Settings → Brand Document → Reset. This clears all data and lets you start fresh without losing your account or content history.
Choosing Your AI Tier
GRIDD offers two AI tiers that affect the quality of your generated content. You can switch between them at any time in Settings → My Details.
- Grid AI — A multi-model setup optimised for speed and quality. Ideal for regular weekly use.
- Grid AI Pro — A multi-model setup using the most advanced models available. Recommended for high-stakes scripts, launches, or when you need the absolute best output.
Pro tip: Use Grid AI for your regular weekly ideation and Grid AI Pro for scripts that will support a product launch, a viral push, or an important campaign.
