Knowledge Base
The Knowledge Base is your research library — a collection of AI-generated and manually written documents that your Creative Director can reference when generating ideas and strategies. Think of it as giving your AI a briefing file on any topic you care about.
Where to find it: Click Knowledge in the left navigation bar inside your workspace.
What is the Knowledge Base for?
The Knowledge Base stores in-depth research and context that goes beyond your Brand Document. While your Brand Document covers your brand identity and audience profile, the Knowledge Base is where you store research on specific topics, competitor analysis, audience deep-dives, and script notes that your AI can draw from when strategising.
Examples of what creators store in their Knowledge Base:
- A deep-dive on the latest trends in their niche
- Research on a specific problem their audience faces
- Notes from a course or book they want to turn into content
- A breakdown of what is working for a specific competitor
- An audience persona document for a specific segment
Document Types
| Type | Best for |
|---|---|
| Research | Topic deep-dives, trend analysis, competitor breakdowns |
| Audience | Detailed audience persona documents, segment research |
| Topic | Everything you know about a specific subject you cover |
| Script Notes | Notes, talking points, or references for an upcoming script |
Creating a Research Document
There are two ways to create a Knowledge Base document: let GRIDD research a topic for you using AI, or write a document manually.
AI-powered research (recommended)
- Click "Research a Topic" or "New Document"
From the Knowledge Base main page, use the quick-action button or click the New Document button in the toolbar.
- Enter a research topic or question
For example: "What are the biggest pain points for solopreneurs trying to build a personal brand in 2025?" or "What is currently working in the fitness content space on Instagram?"
- Select the document type
Choose Research, Audience, Topic, or Script Notes to categorise the document correctly.
- GRIDD researches and writes the document
Using live web research (powered by Perplexity), GRIDD searches for the latest information and synthesises it into a structured, well-formatted research document. You will see it writing in real time.
- Review and edit
Once the document is complete, you can edit any part of it directly. The document is saved automatically.
Live web research: When GRIDD researches a topic, it does not just use pre-trained knowledge — it searches the web in real time. This means your research documents are grounded in what is actually happening right now in your space, not information that may be months or years old.
Writing a document manually
You can also create a document and write it yourself. Click New Document, choose a type, give it a title, and start writing. You can ask GRIDD to help expand or improve sections using the document chat bar at the bottom of the editor.
Document Statuses
- Draft — Created but research has not started yet.
- Researching — AI is actively researching and writing the document.
- Complete — Document is finished and ready to reference.
Using Your Knowledge Base in Strategy
Once you have research documents in your Knowledge Base, your Creative Director automatically has access to them. When you ask for ideas or strategy in the Ideation chat, your Creative Director can pull from your research to give you more specific and informed recommendations.
You can also explicitly reference a document in your chat by mentioning the topic. For example: "Based on the audience research I have stored, what content angles should I prioritise this month?"
Getting more from existing documents
Open any Knowledge Base document and use the chat bar at the bottom to:
- "Expand the section on [topic] with more detail"
- "Add a section on how this applies to my specific audience"
- "Summarise this into 5 key content angles I can use"
- "Rewrite this section to be more actionable"
Note: Knowledge Base documents are shared with your entire team by default. If you are storing sensitive research or unreleased campaign strategy, keep it in a separate note-taking tool until you are ready to share it with the team.
